Those heading from Greater Noida’s Pari Chowk to Mayur Vihar, Akshardham, or ITO in Delhi this weekend are likely to face traffic delays on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. Noida Authority and traffic police will be diverting traffic near the Bird Feeding Point, close to the Dalit Prerna Sthal, to fix a damaged underground water pipe, reported.
This diversion will be in place from 9 pm on Friday until 4 am on Monday. According to Lakhan Singh Yadav, DCP (Traffic), the damaged pipe is 800 mm wide and lies about 10 metres from the road divider.
To carry out the repairs, a section of the expressway — 5 metres wide and 30 metres long — will be closed. As a result, there may be heavy traffic in the area. To avoid getting stuck, commuters heading towards Mayur Vihar, Akshardham, or the Chilla Border are advised to take DSC Road and the Botanical Garden route instead.
Alternative Routes:
  • From Greater Noida, use Kalindi Kunj or Sarita Vihar.
  • Traffic from Kalindi Kunj to Chilla Border or DND Flyway will be rerouted via Sector 37 and Botanical Garden.
Emergency vehicles like ambulances and fire engines will still be allowed through.
DL Verma from the Noida Authority said the pipeline is leaking and affecting water supply nearby. If not repaired soon, it could even damage the expressway — especially with monsoon rains around the corner. That’s why the work is being done this weekend, when traffic is usually lighter.
For context, similar repairs and diversions were carried out at the same spot in February 2025.
The Noida-Greater Noida Expressway is a major road connecting to Delhi, used by nearly five lakh vehicles every day — with a large number coming from Kalindi Kunj, DND Flyway, Chilla Border, and nearby sectors.
