At G7 Outreach, PM Modi Vows to Represent Global South on World Stage: 'India Will Amplify Its Voice'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday made a strong pitch for the voice of the Global South, urging world leaders to prioritise its concerns and development needs. Speaking at the G7 Outreach Session in Canada, PM Modi reaffirmed India's commitment to representing the aspirations of the Global South on the global stage, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
"In his address, PM highlighted the need to ensure energy security for all through a sustainable and green pathway and elaborated upon India's global initiatives such as ISA, CDRI and the Global Biofuels Alliance, towards this objective. Calling for attention to the concerns and priorities of the Global South, he noted that India took it as its responsibility to bring the voice of the Global South to the world stage," said MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal.
Taking to social media platform X, PM Modi said that he shared "outstanding conversations" with his dear friends, President Ramaphosa of South Africa and President Lula of Brazil. "We are unwavering in our commitment to speaking about issues that matter to the Global South. We are equally determined to do whatever it takes to build a better tomorrow for the coming generations!" he remarked.

The prime minister had made it clear that he would be discussing important global issues and emphasising the priorities of the Global South as he meets world leaders at the G7 Summit. This was also his first visit to Canada in a decade.
On the margins of the G7 Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also held a series of bilateral meetings with his global counterparts, with discussions focusing on a range of issues such as trade, investment, counter-terrorism and global challenges.
He posted a picture on X on Tuesday with leaders of the seven-nation bloc and those invited to the summit in Kananaskis, Canada.
"Together for global progress! Productive exchanges with G7 leaders on key global challenges and shared aspirations for a better planet," he said in the post.
