Elon Musk Unfollows Stephen Miller

Amid his public fued with Donald Trump, Elon Musk has unfollowed one of the US President's top allies – Stephen Miller, the White House deputy chief of staff and his wife, Katie Miller on social media. The development came after Musk and Stephen Miller got involved in an online spat after the tech billionaire criticised the "One Big Beautiful Bill".
Katie Miller served as a Special Government Employee with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Tension between Elon Musk and Trump became public after the Tesla CEO expressed disappointment with the "One Big Beautiful Bill", claiming it contradicted the budget-cutting goals he pursued during his tenure with DOGE. "I think a bill can be big or it can be beautiful, but I don't know if it can be both," he said. "My personal opinion."
Reacting to Musk's comments about the bill, Stephen Miller took to X (formerly Twitter), writing: "Under senate budget rules, you cannot cut discretionary spending (only mandatory) in a reconciliation bill". Miller further added: "So DOGE cuts would have to be done through what is known as a rescissions package or an appropriations bill”.
He further stated that the bill "does not fund the departments of government" nor finance federal agencies, pushing back against Musk’s claim that it undermined DOGE’s mission.
Almost inseparable over the last nine months, the friendship between the two have soured rapidly over the past few days. Since his exit from DOGE, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO has made a large number of claims, including one that Trump would have lost the US President election last year without him, and the Republican leader threatened to tear off federal contracts with the world’s richest person.
"Look, Elon and I had a great relationship. I don't know if we will any more," said President Trump after Elon Musk appealed for his "One Big Beautiful Bill" to be stopped at all cost. That bill has now passed the House of Representatives.
Tesla Loses $152 Billion in Market Cap, Biggest Hit Ever
The public spat has led to panic selling at the Wall Street, with the shares of Musk-owned Tesla taking a fall of 14 per cent. The EV maker lost $152 billion in value, the biggest hit to its market cap ever, putting it below the $1 trillion benchmark and settling Thursday at $916 billion.
The fall in Tesla shares comes after the EV maker saw a 22% rally in May despite weak sales numbers.
Shares are down nearly 18% this week as Musk has continued to rail against the budget bill, according to CNBC report. This year, shares are down nearly 30% and well off the high of $488.54 reached on December 18.
